Xbox Game Pass users are expecting big releases and day 1 premieres during 2024. However, there is some bad news, as a well-known studio confirmed that one of its upcoming games will not be coming to the service on release, so fans of the franchise should be saving up to grab a copy.
SEGA will not be bringing this game to Xbox Game Pass at launch
SEGA has been one of the most supportive Xbox Game Pass companies. A wide variety of their titles have made their way to the service and, some of them, have been day 1 releases. For such a reason, many expect the next major installment of Like a Dragon (Yakuza) to debut on the platform.
However, Masayoshi Yokoyama, director of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, confirmed that this will not be the case. He stated that, at least for now, they have no plans to bring Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to Xbox Game Pass, so fans of the franchise should not expect it as a day 1 release.
The executive explained that SEGA has opted for the service because it believes it is an excellent way to promote its franchises. In this way, players can get to know Japanese sagas such as Like a Dragon and, subsequently, enjoy their most recent installments.
Yokoyama said Xbox Game Pass is a way to give gamers around the world their calling card. "It allows players new to the series to enjoy the game and get to know Kiryu. Game Pass proved to be a very good way to invite new users to interact with the series," revealed the developer.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be one of the first major releases of 2024, debuting on January 26 on consoles and PC. While there is a possibility that it may come to Xbox Game Pass in the future, nothing is confirmed at this time.
