The video game from Insomniac Games expands on the combat system of the first title and presents an emotional story that shines through its epic moments; however, some players believe that the narrative has some issues, especially during the final stages of the campaign.

During his participation in the AIAS Game Maker’s Notebook podcast hosted by Ted Price, Bryan Intihar, creative director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, opened up and shed some light on one of the most complicated instances of the development process.
The creative from Insomniac Games revealed that, at one point during production, the team thought they wouldn't be able to meet the expected quality standards for the second half of the story. This situation led to a meeting with Sony producers.

Bryan Intihar reveals that the studio had a "heated" conversation with Sony producers. He quickly clarifies that by "heated," he refers more to a feeling of frustration than an argumentative discussion. This meeting triggered a very emotional reaction.
The creative director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 mentions that he took a step back in the conversation to reassess the goals. As the meeting continued via Zoom, he sketched out the new plan on a napkin and presented it. This allowed the project to get back on track and continue. Despite the issues in the narrative, the final result is outstanding.

Fans theorize that developers removed some Venom sequences, which makes sense when we recall that voice actor Tony Todd confessed that Insomniac Games did not use a considerable portion of his voice lines. That said, the changes made by the studio during production are unknown.
