Street Fighter 6 surprised everyone with its excellent combat system and a lot of content; however, despite being one of the best games of 2023, it was unable to avoid controversy. Now, it has received strong criticism from the community due to its latest crossover.
This is the Street Fighter 6 and SPY x FAMILY Collaboration
Last year, the studio revealed that Street Fighter 6 would celebrate a special collaboration with SPY x FAMILY, the anime from Wit Studio based on the popular manga by Tatsuya Endo. The announcement excited players, as a short animated video was shared that showed a fight between Yor and Chun-Li.
After a long wait, Capcom explained what the crossover entails. Specifically, players can obtain new outfits, free rewards inspired by the Japanese show, and other surprises. The community is very disappointed.
To start, players can customize their avatars with the new costumes inspired by Yor Forger and Loid Forger, which are available in the store for 500 Drive Tickets. Additionally, Capcom provided codes that will allow fans to mimic the appearance of the anime's protagonists in the character editor.
The avatar codes are as follows:
- Yor Forger - SPY_SF6_YOR
- Loid forger - SPY_SF6_LOID
Additionally, all Street Fighter 6 players who log in will be able to claim special rewards for free, such as stickers, frames for the Photo Mode, and titles to customize their profile. Finally, the Battle Hub will have a temporary makeover. The event will be active from January 9 to 31.
Street Fighter 6 and SPY x FAMILY Crossover Disappoints Fans
After the announcement, players took to social media to express their displeasure. Many expected Yor Forger to join the character roster as a guest fighter, or for Chun-Li and other fighters to receive skins inspired by the protagonists of SPY x FAMILY.
The Street Fighter 6 community was clear and criticized Capcom for the special collaboration, which aims to celebrate the upcoming release of the movie SPY x FAMILY Code: White.
"Congratulations, Capcom. You did what a team of modders could do in a week," said one fan in the comments section. "All you had to do was make a costume for avatars and Chun-Li," said another. "We waited a month for an avatar skin," claimed a third.
But tell us, did the crossover meet your expectations? Do you think the player's criticisms are justified? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.
Street Fighter 6 is available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
