The successor to the Nintendo Switch is on the way, and as is customary in the months leading up to the launch, rumors and speculation about the system will be rife. Given the success of the Nintendo Switch, similar expectations surround the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, and the latest rumor anticipates when the highly anticipated announcement will take place.
Naturally, Nintendo will be very secretive about the details of the console reveal, but information has surfaced indicating when the announcement will happen. In early February, there were talks that the announcement was imminent, but this event may have been delayed by several months.
When will the Nintendo Switch 2 be announced?
These new unofficial details come from two of the most reliable Nintendo information leakers.
The first is content creator PH Brazil, the same source that claimed a few days ago that the console would have backward compatibility. According to this informant, the announcement of Nintendo's new console has been moved from March to June, which aligns with rumors of the supposed delay in the release of the rumored console, which would arrive in early 2025, compared to the alleged originally planned release window in 2024.
But that's not all; the informant suggests that Nintendo plans to hold another Nintendo Direct in April. Moreover, before that, "probably" in March, another Indie World edition will be broadcast.
This new rumor was joined by Felipe Lima, editor-in-chief of Universo Nintendo, also known as necrolipe and for being a renowned informant with a good track record of accurate predictions.
According to Lima, who also shared his information through Famiboards, the June Nintendo Direct would be of a general nature (not indie or from external studios), so we could expect strong announcements of titles developed by Nintendo. The informant, however, did not anticipate an estimated date for the event, but it is not ruled out that the Japanese company may take advantage of its traditional mid-year event to make the announcement or may prefer to do it separately.
We will keep you informed.
