Pentiment, a game from Xbox and Obsidian Entertainment, arrived this week on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. This is the first release Xbox has brought to competing platforms since announcing its change in strategy.
The title will finally have a physical release, which Obsidian promoted on its social networks. However, the publication made more than one Xbox gamer furious. the reason? They believe that the studio promotes the PlayStation 5 port more than the Xbox version.
Obsidian is criticized for the Pentiment image
Through its X account, Obsidian informed players that the pre-sale of the physical edition of Pentiment for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo has begun. The publication has an image showing the physical copies for the various platforms.
One detail in particular was not to the liking of Xbox players, as the PlayStation 5 port is the most visible and the Xbox version is the least visible. Many believe the opposite should be the case, as after all Obsidian is an Xbox studio.
"They can't even put the Xbox version first. They're a first-party studio," stated one gamer clearly upset with the release.
"The Xbox version on the back. The game doesn't have a physical release when it comes to Xbox, but now when it's on PS5 it does. Give me a break, we are the most abused fanbase," added another person.
Other Xbox gamers claimed to feel like second-class citizens with these types of releases. Some of the community claimed that some gamers are overreacting and asked the rest of the fans not to fall for this type of criticism.
