The meme is real: DOOM can run anywhere, even on an expensive lawnmower. Hard as it may be to believe, the company Husqvarna announced that the iconic FPS will be coming to its devices with an official port of the 1993 game.
According to the details, certain models of their mowers will soon receive an update. Thanks to this, it will be possible to play DOOM on a tiny screen on their devices. What's interesting is that this will be a timed release, as it will only be available for a limited time.
You will soon be able to play DOOM while mowing the lawn
Husqvarna said in a statement that owners of its Automower NERA lawnmower will be able to enjoy DOOM in April. To do so, they will need to use the Husqvarna Automower Connect app and download an update for their equipment, which will include the FPS.
Those interested should register in advance and wait for the port to be released on 9 April. Interestingly, the game will only be available on computers for a limited time, as it will be withdrawn via another update on 9 September this year.
Players will be able to enjoy the FPS on a small screen included with the device. The action can be controlled with a knob that rotates left and right. On the other hand, shooting will be done by pressing the knob, while players will be able to run by pressing the start button.
This unexpected collaboration was born during the DreamHack Winter 2023 event and Husqvarna decided to make it happen. The title will be available at no cost; however, it is important to note that the compatible mower model costs over $2000 USD. Below you can watch a video of this unexpected release.
