Most of the details about this film project remain a mystery, but we already know who will be in charge of the script and production.
According to the report, Tyler Burton Smith, who wrote the reboot of Child’s Play (Chucky) and the recent Boy Kills World, will be responsible for writing the script for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. Additionally, Walter Hamada, who led the DC Films division, will be the producer through his production company 18hz.
At this moment, the release date and cast of actors who will bring the main characters to life are unknown.
In addition to the newly announced live-action movie, TMNT: The Last Ronin will also arrive in gaming with a new action video game. Unfortunately, the development status is unknown because Black Forest Games, the studio in charge of the project, laid off around 50 employees as part of the crisis affecting Embracer Group.
For those who may not be familiar, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is a comic written by franchise co-creator Kevin Eastman and visual artist Tom Waltz. It was published between 2020 and 2022 and quickly garnered great success. It was the second best-selling graphic novel of 2023.
The story is set in a dark future where Oroku Hiroto, Shredder's grandson, rules New York City with an iron fist. Master Splinter and 3 of the turtles die, so the surviving turtle, who uses the weapons of their fallen brothers, embarks on a journey of revenge.
