Although Persona stopped being niche with the fifth installment of the mainline series, the truth is that the series has been in the market for decades. Unfortunately, the early iterations are hard to come by, but apparently ATLUS is already planning to make 3 of them more accessible with remakes.
That's right, the Japanese company reportedly isn't planning just 1 or 2, but 3 remakes of the oldest games in the series, namely Persona, Persona 2, and Persona 4, which originally debuted in 1996 and 1999, 2008, respectively, as titles in a subseries of the RPG saga Shin Megami Tensei.
We know this thanks to Midori (MbKKssTBhz5), an informant who has gained great renown in the ATLUS and SEGA community for being one of the most reliable sources of information about both companies' plans.
The leaker had mentioned weeks ago that she would retire from the scene after a misunderstanding, but everything was resolved, and she returned out of pure passion and for her community and wasted no time in sharing more information about undisclosed projects.
Is ATLUS Working on More Persona Remakes?
Through Twitter (X), the informant was asked if there would be a remake of Persona 4, to which she replied affirmatively, though she asked for patience, suggesting that ATLUS is just beginning to plan the projects.
Best of all, Midori continued the conversation and stated that not only would the 4th installment of the series receive this treatment, but remakes of Persona 1 and Persona 2 would also be in preparation.
It seems the projects will be remakes, although Midori clarified that she will refer to them as "updated" versions to avoid misunderstandings. Judging by the clues, it's not difficult to imagine that ATLUS is preparing something similar to what they did with Persona 3 Reload.
Naturally, since these are very early projects, there's still no release date or window, so fans will have to be patient and wait indefinitely. It's worth remembering that this information is unofficial, although the source is one of the most reliable in the industry.
We'll keep you informed.
