Stellar Blade debuted successfully and received approval from both critics and gamers. However, a part of the community is not at all happy with the PlayStation 5 exclusive, claiming that SHIFT UP made major last-minute changes to the game and censored some of the content shown in the various promotional trailers.

Because of this, Mark Kern, a former Blizzard developer who has generated controversy on several occasions, decided to create a petition on Change.org to demand SHIFT UP and PlayStation to revert the changes, as they are against censorship in video games.

Stellar Blade is a phenomenal new game that just launched on Playstation 5 worldwide. But it has a problem. The content has been censored from the original trailer version posted by Sony. We, as gamers, want this content back. We relied on it, we made the game the #1 pre-order worldwide because of it, and this is the true game we want,” reads the petition which was published in several languages.

Kern claims that the title is a kind of “a cultural beacon for freedom of expression” in an era where various companies censor games. For such a reason, he believes Stellar Blade is a breath of fresh air as it represents a change in support of the “voice of creative freedom.” So he thinks his petition is very important.

“We believe in the game, we believe in SHIFT UP, and we are asking to get the game we believed in. Revert the censorship changes, patch the game, and you will find that even more gamers will join you and support you!,” the creative added.

Finally, he assured that he will print the petition to deliver a copy to SHIFT UP's offices and another one to PlayStation's offices in the United States. He also invited gamers to support the campaign on social networks with the hashtag #FreeStellarBlade.

The petition on Change.org seeks to gather 25,000 signatures. As of this writing, it already has 17,043 signatures. Several players agree with Kern's stance, so they demanded an update to reverse changes to various costumes and some aspects of EVE, the protagonist.
