PlayStation VR2 has not quite met Sony's expectations, as the device for PlayStation 5 recorded sales below what was expected. In response, the company decided to extend its support and make it compatible with computers. Thanks to this, users of the virtual reality device will be able to use it on their PC and enjoy the vast library of Steam.
This will be possible thanks to an official adapter that Sony revealed this morning on the PlayStation blog. The accessory will hit stores in a few months, so below we share details such as its release date, price, and more.
PS VR2 will be compatible with PC and Steam games
Sony announced that its new accessory for PS VR2 will allow users to connect their device to their PC and play acclaimed VR titles available on Steam, such as Half-Life: Alyx, Fallout 4 VR, War Thunder, among many others.
Interested users will need to meet several requirements. The first is to purchase the new adapter, which will be sold for $59.99 USD. Additionally, they will need a DisplayPort cable compatible with DisplayPort 1.4. Of course, they must have a PC that meets the necessary requirements to run VR games and a Steam account.
The company assured that the setup will be very simple, as it will only be necessary to connect the adapter and the cable, as well as download an application to make the necessary configurations.
Sony emphasized that PS VR2 was designed for PlayStation 5, so some of its features will not be available for Steam games. This includes HDR, haptic feedback, eye tracking, and adaptive triggers. Below you can find the minimum requirements to use the device on PC.
