Unfortunately, studio closures persist. Through a statement, Galvanic Games announced its closure due to lack of budget and agreements to develop new titles. Wizard with a Gun, their latest game distributed by Devolver Digital, did not meet financial expectations and dealt the final blow to their future.
Galvanic Games closes its doors due to budget constraints and lack of opportunities
Patrick Morgan, president and founder of Galvanic Games, issued a statement announcing the definitive closure of the independent studio, explaining what transpired, and bidding farewell to the players who supported their projects over the years.
"Despite the promising start of Wizard with a Gun, sales are not strong enough to sustain our studio. The last year has been particularly tough for games. While we had numerous encouraging conversations at DICE and GDC, the process of signing new projects, even in a good year, takes longer than the runway we had left," stated the executive.
Morgan thanked Devolver Digital for bringing their latest project to life but lamented the fate of the studio founded in 2015. He praised the talent of his team and noted they had a very productive year; however, it wasn't sufficient.
"It is incredibly difficult to see our team facing the uncertainty of the current job market. I may never get over the irony of spending a decade building my ideal team, only for it to end after our most productive year. The dedication, creativity, and hard work of every person on our team have been nothing short of extraordinary," added the creative.
Finally, he announced they will assist their employees in finding new opportunities in the industry. He urged companies to consider these developers, as there are very talented people among them.
