Xbox had a great event this summer and left its fans satisfied, who are now eagerly awaiting a series of significant releases in the coming months. Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, knows they did well and hopes that this good streak will continue and extend into next year.
The executive recently made an important promise to Xbox players that he hopes to fulfill by 2025. He stated that they will prepare to have another excellent event and offer a lineup of releases filled with compelling titles.
Xbox promises a great event and exciting games for 2025
Booty highlighted the quality of the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, as it was an event where their standout studios could finally come together in one place. He believes that players were satisfied with the number of titles shown and because several of them will arrive relatively soon.
The executive is very pleased with this, as it implies that they will finally improve their release cadence and fulfill an important promise made years ago. For this reason, he is convinced that they will have a great event in 2025 and significant releases for the next year.
“We also are beginning to hit the rhythm that we've always aspired for, and that really is our commitment to our players, of being to deliver a much more steady cadence of games on a more predictable rhythm (...) I feel like this is us beginning to hit our stride. One of the things I'm encouraged by is that I look forward to the future of next year, where we're in a position to hopefully deliver also a great lineup and great showcase next June,” said Booty.
Additionally, he stated that they already have a strong lineup of games for the coming months and will do everything possible to ensure that each game has its space and opportunity to shine. He also pledged to be more responsible when revealing games, managing expectations, and announcing dates.
“Games, like a lot of entertainment, the further out you get, the harder it is to predict an actual date. We just want to have the integrity that if something is further out than a year, we're not trying to create a false perception about when we can deliver the game. Conversely, the closer we get, we really want to be accountable to our fans and be accountable to the industry about when we're going to be able to ship,” the executive concluded.
