Ubisoft does not give up on NFTs and will bet on them again with a new alliance

The NFTs seem like a thing of the past, but some video game companies are still interested in them and their potential. Ubisoft has just announced a new strategic alliance to leverage what Web3 and blockchain offer to the industry.

In 2021, the studio ventured into non-fungible tokens with a project called Ubisoft Quartz, which received multiple criticisms and was a resounding failure. Despite this, the company has not thrown in the towel and has tried to leverage them on several occasions.

Now, it will do so again thanks to a new alliance with double jump.tokyo, a Japanese startup specializing in NFT and blockchain games. The companies will work to boost Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, a tactical RPG that will leverage these technologies.

Ubisoft will bet on NFTs again with Champions Tactics

Through a statement, Ubisoft and double jump.tokyo announced that they will work together to boost the proposal of Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles. As the first project, they will make the title integrate into HOME Verse, a blockchain operated by double jump.tokyo.

"At Ubisoft, we're always on the lookout for new partnerships that take gaming and entertainment to the next level. Teaming up with double jump.tokyo has been exciting because they bring not just technical skills but also a shared passion for the future of gaming. We think this partnership will offer valuable insights on how decentralized technology can mix with gaming," said Ubisoft.

For their part, double jump.tokyo commented that their task will be to provide comprehensive support for Web3 integration for the game. Additionally, the game's NFTs will be integrated into HOME Verse. With this, they aim to boost Champions Tactics in Asia.

Ubisoft is not the first company to work on projects with double jump.tokyo, as Square Enix, Bandai Namco, and SEGA have also collaborated with them to explore the potential of NFTs and other technologies.
