A Stardew Valley player recently shared a story that captivated the entire community of the game. Through a post on Reddit, rigbysghost shared how Eric Barone's game helped fulfill a dream for their sick mother and provided her with great moments of fun.

The player from Brazil explained that they have played Stardew Valley for many hours and that it was one of the titles they enjoyed the most during the pandemic. On the other hand, their mother had never been interested in video games until they suggested playing the acclaimed indie game.

“My mother is in her late 60s and had never played any video games. She had never really had any interest in them. We both have a joint life in a farm fantasy. One day I told her about Stardew Valley, a game I had played a lot during the pandemic and asked her if she'd like to try it. I was totally expecting her to say no but she said yes,” revealed rigbysghost.

The 67-year-old woman couldn't play Stardew Valley properly, as she has a permanent shake in both hands. The player explained that it is very difficult for her to use the keyboard and mouse, so they had an idea: adapt the game for their mother using mods.

They installed modifications to translate the game, unlock the tractor, and other useful tools to make their dream of having a farm with their mother come true. Their project was a success, as their mother has not stopped playing the game and has been very happy ever since.

“We're in year 3 and she spends a lot of time fishing, which i made easy as can be. Seeing her happy makes me happy. Sometimes we're out doing errands and she'll mutter 'I'd rather be playing my farming game'. I'm just really grateful for this game and the mods that made it possible for my 67 year old mom to have some fun and de-stress,” concluded the player.

The community was touched and celebrated rigbysghost's story. Some players talked about the power of video games to strengthen personal connections and bring people together. Others shared anecdotes about how useful games have been for older people in various circumstances.
