Black Myth: Wukong remains a hot topic, and its popularity continues to soar. The game by Game Science has established itself as one of the most successful releases of 2024 and one of the biggest surprises in the industry in recent history.
In just 3 days, the action-adventure game managed to sell 10 million copies on PlayStation 5 and PC worldwide. Game Science has recently reached another sales milestone, and there’s great news for fans who have already finished Black Myth: Wukong and are craving more.
A report revealed that the studio is already working on more content for the game. Instead of preparing a direct sequel, Game Science will release an expansion as downloadable content.
Black Myth: Wukong to get DLC following massive success
Thanks to a report from Bloomberg, we know that Black Myth: Wukong continues to sell at a strong pace and has already sold 18 million copies on PlayStation 5 and PC. This makes it one of the most successful games of recent times and one of the fastest-selling titles.
Of course, Game Science must be more than satisfied with the results, as it is estimated that the game has already generated over $800 million in revenue. To put that number into perspective, it’s important to mention that the game had a budget of $70 million and was in development for 6 years.
Due to its massive success, the studio already has plans for the future of the franchise. The report reveals that Game Science is currently working on an expansion that has been compared to Shadow of the Erdtree, the DLC for ELDEN RING.
For now, there are no more details about the content, as Game Science has yet to officially confirm it. However, given the current development times and the game's ambition, the expansion may take quite a few months to debut.
We also know that Game Science is currently working on the release of Black Myth: Wukong for Xbox. The reasons behind the game’s absence on Microsoft consoles are still unclear. It is speculated that it could be due to an exclusivity deal with Sony or technical issues, possibly related to the Xbox Series S.
