Content creator xQc, who was once a pro player, stirred controversy in the community

After a long wait, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, the sequel to Budokai Tenkaichi 3, is finally available on all platforms. Fans quickly turned to online mode to face other players and test their skills. However, one of the game’s biggest problems emerged almost immediately: rage quitting.

For those unfamiliar, rage quitting refers to abandoning a match early to avoid losing points or out of sheer anger and frustration. While it may feel satisfying to see an opponent give up, it actually represents a problem.

Like many other multiplayer games, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has seen many fans throw in the towel and quit matches in ranked mode. The main issue is that the match ends abruptly, and the other player doesn't receive points, even though they were about to secure a win.

Recently, one of the most controversial and popular content creators in the English-speaking community highlighted how annoying this issue can be in the new video game based on Toei Animation’s anime.

Although not known for playing fighting games, famous streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel decided to give Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO a try and shared his experience with his large audience. At one point during the stream, he lost his temper while playing an online match and engaged in the controversial rage quit.

In the clip, which gained a lot of visibility on forums and social media, the former Overwatch pro player loses his cool. Just as he’s about to lose the match, he exits the game, instantly ending the session. In addition to insulting his opponent, he mocks him for being unable to earn points due to the abrupt quit.

“No, no points for you. I don’t care. Are you in my lobby? You pull off a cheap strategy? Then no problem, no points for you (...) Get mad! You played the whole match, and still, you won’t get the points. That’s how bad you are. You spent all this time and earned 0 points,” xQc said in the video, which you can watch here.

The content creator was playing as Yajirobe, considered by many one of the best characters in the game due to his useful ability to heal using Senzu Beans. As a result, the community mocked him, claiming he was a sore loser.

Beyond this incident, it’s clear that Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has a severe problem with players prematurely abandoning matches. In recent weeks, social media has been flooded with videos showing many players rage quitting during online modes.

Fortunately, Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft are aware of the issue. In a blog post, they confirmed that they will issue temporary suspensions to players who quit matches early. This is to maintain the competitive integrity of the experience.
