This week, Sony released a new update for the PlayStation 5. The update included routine adjustments and a few new features for the activities section. Now, we know that version 24.07-10.20.00 of the system also made an unexpected change: it removed a console feature without prior notice.
According to various reports and player testimonials, the Resume Activity option mysteriously disappeared after installing the latest update for the console. This feature was compared to Xbox's Quick Resume, as it allowed users to return to games quickly and easily.
For some reason that Sony has not explained, PlayStation 5 users are currently unable to use Resume Activity. Part of the community believes it disappeared due to an error, but some players also think it was removed because it occasionally caused issues.
The Resume Activity option mysteriously disappeared from PS5
For some time, PlayStation 5 players have reported issues with the Resume Activity option, as it doesn’t always work correctly. Update 24.07-10.20.00 made adjustments to the activities section, so many expected Sony to fix this issue.
To their surprise, players discovered that the button for the feature simply vanished without any explanation. Of course, this left many players puzzled, especially since Sony didn’t mention anything about it in the update notes.
PlayStation 5 users reported that the text on activity cards changed to simply “Play,” with no option to resume without having to reopen a game first.
As mentioned, Sony has not yet commented on the matter, so it is unclear whether the feature will return after some necessary adjustments or if it has been removed permanently. Players are hoping that the company will clarify the situation soon.
While the Resume Activity option is not essential for gameplay, some players will certainly miss it as it was a convenient way to quickly and intuitively return to the action.
