There are titles that didn’t fully capture players’ attention when they debuted, but over time, they started to gain relevance and recognition. This is the case of a forgotten Xbox 360 exclusive that debuted in 2010 and was ignored by many.

A year later, it saw a better reception when it was released on PC, as the RPG managed to win over Steam users and received very positive reviews. Now, Breath of Death VII: The Beginning will return seeking a second chance with a remaster that will debut in just a few days.

What is Breath of Death VII: The Beginning?

Breath of Death VII: The Beginning is an RPG created by Zeboyd Games with one goal: to pay homage to Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, but through humor. Therefore, the game is a parody of the famous Japanese franchises, and of course, it is filled with humor that is evident from its name, as it’s the first entry in the saga despite having a 7.

Its story is light and packed with humor that references clichés and mechanics from traditional JRPGs. The protagonist is Dem, a skeleton knight who embarks on an adventure to uncover the history of the world after an apocalypse that transformed humans into monsters.

Breath of Death VII: The Beginning debuted in 2010 as part of Xbox LIVE Arcade, where it received mixed reception. Its success came in 2011 with its launch on Steam, Valve’s platform, where it received very good reviews. Now, the RPG will return with a remaster debuting in December.
