Sony is one of the companies that has best capitalized on its video game franchises, turning them into multimedia projects and bringing them to the big screen. In fact, it has several adaptations in development, with the next one arriving before the end of the first half of next year.
At the start of 2024, Sony surprised fans with the announcement of a Until Dawn adaptation for the big screen. Given this news, fans expected a long wait, possibly months or even years, to see it in theaters. However, unlike other projects, this one was already quite advanced or developed smoothly, as filming has already wrapped, and the movie now even has an official release date.

When will the Until Dawn movie hit theaters?
Shortly after the announcement that the project had completed filming, Sony Pictures officially confirmed (via The Wrap) that its next video game franchise adaptation will hit theaters next year, specifically on April 25. This allows several months of post-production before the movie’s release.
It’s important to note that the original Until Dawn title debuted in August 2015, meaning the movie will release just in time to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Sony’s multimedia franchise in 2025.
While the original Until Dawn game used real actors to bring its characters to life, the film adaptation will feature a new cast, including Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Odessa A’zion, and Maia Mitchell. However, actor Peter Stormare will reprise his role as Dr. Hill.
In case you missed it: the Until Dawn remake debuted, but it didn’t receive a warm reception on PC.
